Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton advised college basketball fans to submit only one bracket for the NCAA Division I men's and women's basketball tournaments, posting on X: "Make one bracket and stand on it."[1]
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Haliburton criticised the practice of entering multiple brackets, saying: "I think it’s just so lame that people are like, ‘Oh, I made this many brackets.’ Like, dang, how many brackets do you get? That’s not how it works."[1] He added that people should "make one choice and stand on it."[1]
Haliburton, who played one season for the Iowa State Cyclones in 2019-20, averaging 15.2 points and 5.9 assists per game, selected his alma mater to win the men's national championship.[1][2] He acknowledged some arguments for multiple brackets, such as one optimistic pick for alma mater and one realistic, but maintained fans should commit to believing in their choices.[1]
The Cyclones compete in the Big 12 Conference.[2] Haliburton described his team as battle-tested from neutral-site games and the conference schedule, noting: "We play in the best conference in basketball."[1]
Haliburton is partnering with Reese's on its March Madness Bracket Busting Campaign, which encourages fans to share busted brackets on social media using #ForAReesesSweeps for chances to win Reese's products and Final Four tickets.[1]
He participated in a Bracket Summit with New York Liberty's Breanna Stewart and analysts Richard Jefferson and Andraya Carter to share picks.[1]
The 2025 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament first round begins March 20.[3]
